How long does a pool cage rescreen take?
A full cage rescreen on a typical 20–40 panel Winter Springs cage usually runs one to two days on site. A single-panel repair is typically same-visit. The actual driver is panel count and access, not the calendar — the mesh itself goes in at a similar rate regardless of the type.
What actually moves the number
- Panel count. The single biggest factor. A small lanai under 20 panels is materially faster than a large or two-storey mansard cage of 40–60+ panels.
- Access. A gated community entrance, a tight side yard, or a cage that can only be reached by carrying material through the house all add real time that has nothing to do with the mesh itself.
- Frame condition. If corroded fasteners need addressing first — see rust at the fasteners — that is separate labour on top of the rescreen.
One published Florida source gives a worked example of a six-panel job with a full frame rebuild running 6–8 hours of labour, which is the closest thing to a citable labour-hours figure found for this trade — source: Well Built Florida, Patio Screen Repair Cost guide, 2026-03-28. It is a single worked example, not a rate that scales linearly to every job size.
Timeline questions
Does mesh choice change the timeline?
Marginally. Standard fiberglass, no-see-um and pet-resistant mesh all install the same way at roughly the same rate. Solar screen and panoramic clear-view panels take longer per panel because the material is stiffer and less forgiving to trim.
Does a gated community add time?
Sometimes, indirectly — scheduling around a gate code or an HOA access window rather than the work itself taking longer. Several of this city’s larger subdivisions run their own access arrangements; worth mentioning when you book.
